Great topic....Pet Waste

As we all know, owning a dog has its responsibilities. But you are here because you want to reduce your dogs’ effect on the planet. Congratulations.
We share a common thread. The biggest problem we face as dog owners is waste, and the plastic bags we put it in. There are other options.
There are many new brands of biodegradable bags coming up…one to note is www.poopbags.com I haven’t fully done my research on them yet, but if what they state is true, it is a nice product. There is also the Doggie Dooley www.doggiedooley.com In the future I would like to see if there would be other ways of re-using pet waste. Any ideas, feel free to contact me! This is a learning process. I also have a great article on twitter about making your composter Make your own pet waste composter http://bit.ly/9oP73. Another idea I have read about, but would love to hear feedback on, is flushing. Is this okay? This is what I do sometimes. I live in the country and have a septic system. I think most would agree, this is the best method, until we come up with something better.

A new twitter friend told me about these....http://www.4u2reuse.com/AboutUs.htm Really neat holders for your bags!

I will leave you with this lovely thought!

Good Night.

  1. Hi. We found you on Pets Blogroll. Ia m an eco-frienly dog owner too. We have started following your blog.

What to do with dog poop is a hot topic for me. I own two dogs and I am a water quality specialist (creeks and lakes, not drinking water). I have been reading about dog waste composters but 1) rent and 2) don't garden so I don't know if that is the way to go for me. Flushing is a controversial option too. I have heard that a lot of sewer companies don't want you flushing dog poo. If you have a septic system, flushing it can cause your system to fill up faster. Unfortunately there is no great disposal method without any drawbacks yet.
